My Matlab Table assignment was to code a simple spreadsheet using Matlab and send it to a colleague for evaluation. The assignment was to do a group analysis of the performance of different teams in the company. My colleague asked me to code the spreadsheet by myself, as he is the only one with knowledge on Matlab and could give me good matlab programming help online. Back to the Matlab Table assignment, I informed my professor that I could not complete the assignment due to a prior engagement. He explained that it was possible that I could watch an episode of the Japanese anime series Kyoshin Gigantsu which translates as Counter-Strike or Secret Stages to watch the scene. I watched the first episode and was fascinated by the awesome fight between the opposing team “Gigants” who were led by the prodigy “Tenma” who were skillfully trained from a young age by the legendary Shindou. In the anime series, Tenma was able to defend himself and later on defeat “Gigants” with his newly found powers. It was then that I recalled my question from the English class in English which was “What did you mean by ‘the opposite’ team?”
With this new knowledge, I came up with a plan to “recruit” Tenma into our group. I suggested that he join our science club where he would have a good chance of learning how to protect himself using his Shinkai. I provided him with the link to go to the site Shinkai gallery which contained pictures of powerful shrikes. I asked him if he could help me with the translation (he speaks English but his Japanese is very poor) and explain what the shurikis meant. I was amazed when he said he could help us with the translation and the explanation of what the keshin koi (tensai) means.
This was not only the first day we had worked together, it was also the first day I got to see Tenma on live! The Matlab assignment was a lot of fun and Tenma seemed to do well under pressure. He kept up his training for the gigants and came back the next week, looking like he had been training for years. I was impressed with all he had accomplished in such a short time and was very excited to see what he had planned for us this week.
We ended up having a double AO (all out attack) with both teams using their respective Gojuus (martial arts). This was a really intense battle that Tenma and I could not wait to see how he would do against our opponents. He defeated two of our team members and I was extremely impressed with his lightning fast defense and ability to perform physical attacks and parries. This was our first encounter with Raimon, the mentor from our martial arts training in Hawaii, so I was eager to see how he would do against our young opponent. I was truly amazed at his skills and his quickness with a deadly attack!
